One of the clothing ranges that excites us the most is kids’ clothing. They come in such a variety that we are spoiled for choice. Besides the bulk clothing, there are handmade clothes for children that are even more exciting because we can get them customised too according to ours and the child’s liking. However, when it’s about our children’s clothes, we should be extra careful about certain points.
1. Comfort
Children cannot always tell properly what they are feeling. In that case, if a beautiful frock or a pair of fashionable trousers is uncomfortable, scratchy or simply unpleasant, they won’t feel very good and cannot enjoy in that piece of clothing. Here it’s your duty to check keenly whether your kid is perfectly comfortable in that clothing. Check all the borders and seams to see if they have any scratchy spot that may be hard on your kid’s delicate skin. Ask the child how s/he is feeling in the clothing and whether s/he is enjoying in it. Remember that style and trend are secondary before the child’s comfort. Choose natural fabrics like cotton, wool or natural silk for kids’ handmade clothing as artificial, synthetic fibres can give rashes to children’s skin.
2. Simple Design
Don’t fall prey to the temptation of a lot of details and embellishments for children’s clothing. Such details may get messed up in wires, meshes, crannies etc when children play around them. Avoid large buttons, intricate yet strong laces that cannot be cut easily when get fastened into something, straps, fasteners or free flowing trains or long bows that may mess with the little feet and children may fall.
3. Fun Colours
You can compensate for embellishments with fun colours! However, remember to avoid fluorescent colours that may dazzle and confuse the kid.
4. Proper Fitting
Make it a point that the clothes should have a proper fitting. Too loose clothes have a risk of hanging from the body and come in between walking, running and playing, thus either causing a fall or getting entangled into something. On the other hand, too tight clothes make it difficult for children breathe easily and can cause muscle and skin ache. Therefore, keep the fitting of clothes just correct.
5. Choose Styles According to the Season
It’s natural that you want to make your children look fashionable with trendy clothes. Sure, you can add style to your child’s clothes. However, consider the season. It doesn’t make sense that you put a sleeveless frock with open back on your baby princess in cold months or long pants, full sleeves leather jacket and muffler in summer on your little prince!
All in all, children’s clothes should be chosen keeping in mind their convenience and comfort, and not your passion.
