prom dressExcitement and joy is spread in air upon arrival of homecoming and prom! These two events also trigger high school students’ creativity and inspire new fashions. All the students dream of wearing the most beautiful dress on these two most important events in high schools. Here are some tips to buy a perfect homecoming and prom dress.

Color

Since homecoming takes place in the season of Fall, students choose earthy colors like brown or olive, while prom is a June event when more lively colors are chosen for the dresses. But you can choose a bold pattern or bright color for homecoming if you want to stand out from the crowd during the dance. And you can easily manage it with your budget. For example, you can get orange prom homecoming dresses under 100. Other colors you can choose are fluorescent blue or hot pink.

Neckline

While choosing the neckline for your prom or homecoming dress, you should consider your body type. If you have a larger frame, you may look good in scoop necks, V-necks or sweetheart necklines. These necklines create an illusion of a vertical line, because of which your full figure look thinner and taller. If your frame is a small one, you should choose a neckline which will make your body frame look wider, e.g. a crew neckline or a classic halter neck. If you have an average frame, consider your shoulders, neck and bust. With a square, V or scoop neckline you can distract attention from your square shoulders. A Sabrina neckline is useful for both – too large or too small bust, because it gently curves from one shoulder to the other.

Length

Homecoming is more casual than prom, so consider a short dress. A mid-thigh long skirt is perhaps flattering for any body type. However, you have to first check if your high school’s dress code will allow that dress. If your school is more conservative, choose a knee-length cocktail dress.

Skirt

A dress with a right silhouette flatters your figure the best. If you are slender, create an illusion of a curvy figure with a skirt that clinches at the waist and then bells out. If you want to hide your pear figure (small at top and full down below) choose a dress with clinched waistline with an A-line skirt. Petite girls on the other hand should not go for fuller silhouettes.
