What factors do you consider while choosing your clothes? I am sure, most of you consider their looks, trendiness, colors and price. But have you ever considered the fabrics? Let me tell you, the fabric from which the clothes are made is an important factor to consider, because it directly affects your skin and overall health. And who told you that you can’t get natural based fashions? You can, by all means!
Why are Natural Fabrics Better than Synthetic Ones?
First let us know which the natural fabrics are. Here they are:
- Cotton
- Silk
- Linen
- Jute
- Cashmere
- Wool
- Hemp
Barring jute, all the above fabrics can be used to make clothing. Jute is used to make carpets etc.
Let’s now also see which the synthetic fabrics are:
- Polyester
- Nylon
- Spandex
- Modal
- Rayon
A thing to be remembered is that bamboo fabric, which is also known as bamboo viscose or bamboo rayon, may seem a natural fabric, but is actually a more or less synthetic fabric.
It has been proved that synthetic fabrics put a toxic burden on us as well as on the environment. Here are some more reasons why you should choose natural fabrics.
Breathability
Natural fabrics are more breathable than synthetic fabrics. Wearing clothes made of natural fabrics is good for your skin, because your skin can take in more oxygen when covered with natural fabrics. Inside synthetic fabrics, the skin doesn’t get oxygen and it becomes tired and unhealthy.
No Static Electricity
All of us have experienced how our hair is raised when synthetic fabrics slide over our skin! This is because of the static electricity the synthetic fabrics produce. Because of the constant production of static electricity on our skin when we wear synthetic fabrics, our skin loses its natural texture and becomes coarse and rough. Natural fabrics don’t produce electricity and so are safe for our skin.
Absorbable
Fabrics we wear should absorb our perspiration well, which synthetic fabrics don’t do and natural fabrics do. Our skin releases sweat, oils and waxes every day, which if remain on it, is harmful for the skin because they promote growth of microbes and fungi. If they are absorbed by the clothes for some time (after which we change clothes and wash them) it is good for our skin.
And if you think that natural fibers don’t look trendy, look at the fashions brought to you by Green Stitch Fabrics, some of which we have given in this article too. Aren’t they fabulous?
