At some point of career, every woman asks herself: “What should I wear to work?”. It may be quite nerve-racking wondering what she can and cannot wear or what would make the best impression. We are all aware that womens clothing always say about women even more than we think. It is relieving to know that dressing for the office, an job interview or some networking event, should not mean leaving the personal style behind. Perhaps the clothes have to be sleekly efficient, but accessories can be as daring as you want to be. Generally, the more distracting a piece of jewelry or clothing is, the less appropriate it is for business wear, but some fashionistas suggest that it does not have to be the rule.
Black, grey, navy and red are traditional colors playing very important roles in a professional image. These colors work really well in skirts, pantsuits and shoes and combine nicely with some softer and more feminine colors such as lilac, ivory, soft pink and ice blue. Hot pink and other loud colors are not recommended for the office, in general, but some creative women risk with them and in fact pull them off. Bags are important and must not look sloppy. Briefcases with the structured style help to project an organized image. Every clothing item should fit women perfectly. Pencil skirts and other straight styles have to be loose enough to allow a person to comfortably sit down, blouses and jackets should not gap between buttonholes. Pants should be fitted but without visible panty lines.
Do not forget about details! Run-free hose, scuff free shoes, manicured nails and neat hear constitute a polished image even more than you think. Also, keep in mind that every company and profession is different. Any tip is useless if your working environment is more casual or even more formal than average. Perhaps the most useful tip is that the female dress code is what the highest-level female boss in certain organization wears.
